- Geraldo Pereira Jotz, Deputy Dean of Innovation and Institutional Affairs of UFRGS.
Goals:
- Network with research institutes and governmental partners, at state and federal levels;
- Explore the Australian research ecosystem and policy benchmarks;
- Understand funding mechanisms and quality assessment for science and research;
- Set up new and consolidate existing links between funding agencies from both countries;
- Investigate new ways to collaborate in science, research and innovation.
On 10/17/2022 the activities were held in Brisbane, specifically at the Queensland University of Technology in the morning and at Queensland University in the afternoon.
Both meetings had the presence of representatives (in the morning was the international advisors and, in the afternoon, the Pro-Chancellor of Research) from the different Universities of the Queensland State. On both meetings each University presented their activity with Brazil and discusses about the common research area of interest and ways to increase and foster the cooperation activity between Brazil and Queensland State.
On 10/18/2022 the activity was held at Griffin University in Brisbane with presence of researchers, mainly of health, water, and environment fields. It was discussed about ongoing joint activities between researchers from this university and Brazilian, among them the role of Griffin University in the TWRA´s creation, researches areas of interest for joint activates, and financial support.
On 10/19/2022 the meeting was joint coordinated by Australian Department of Industry, Science, and Resource (DISR) and Department of Education (DE) in Canberra. On this occasion it was discussed the research and innovation system of both countries. Moreover, it was held presentations from the Australian Academy of Science (AAS), Australian Research Council (ARC), and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) about their structures, support programs, and assessment process.
On the 10/20/2022 the activity in the morning was held in the Brazilian Embassy in Canberra. Initially, the mission participants were received by the Ambassador, Mr. Maurício Lyrio. Following by a workshop conducted by the Policy Cures Research presenting G-Finder in detail, the process for detail collection, Brazil´s data, and the platform use.
In the afternoon it was held a meeting in University of Canberra focusing in research in the field of water. Therefore, it was discussed possibilities of joint research, mainly with researchers from TRWA.
On the 10/21/2022 the activity was at Investment Center Victoria in Melbourne with the presence of some Universities from the State of Victoria and Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) of this State. Therefore, it was presented the research and innovation system, the State of Victoria policy for water management, and discussed about common research interest for possible joint activities.
